Why Phoenix Compass
Designed around how midlife learners actually think.
No jargon by default
Technical terms are introduced carefully, defined when first used, and built upon gradually. Learners are never expected to keep up with a pace that doesn't suit them.
Structured progression
Each course builds on the previous in a deliberate sequence. There is no expectation that learners arrive with prior financial knowledge.
Balanced, neutral content
We do not recommend specific products or platforms. Our content is educational in the fullest sense — helping you form your own view with better information.
Facilitator feedback
The portfolio course includes written feedback on your allocation plan from an experienced facilitator. This personal engagement shapes the learning in ways automated content cannot.
Hong Kong context throughout
Examples, regulatory context, and tax considerations are grounded in the HK environment. Content is not repurposed from other markets.
Considered pace
Courses are timed to allow reflection between sessions. Learning that sticks is learning that has room to settle — we build that space into the programme structure.
Ready to Begin
A different kind of financial education.
Phoenix Compass was built for people who take their decisions seriously. If that sounds like you, we would be glad to hear from you.
Common Questions
Things people ask before enrolling.
Do I need any prior investing experience to join the first course?
No prior experience is necessary for ETF Foundations. The course starts from the assumption that participants have a general interest in understanding these instruments but may not have read a fund fact sheet before. Prior familiarity with basic financial concepts — savings, interest, stocks — is helpful but not required.
Are these courses taught in person or online?
Our courses use a blended format with scheduled live sessions and structured self-paced reading. For those in Hong Kong, in-person sessions are available from our Wan Chai premises. Online attendance options are also offered for each cohort.
Is Phoenix Compass a licensed financial adviser?
Phoenix Compass is an educational organisation, not a licensed financial adviser. Our courses provide knowledge and frameworks for understanding index-based investment instruments. We do not provide personalised investment advice, and nothing in our courses should be read as a recommendation to buy or sell any specific product.
How are the courses priced and what does the fee cover?
Fees range from HKD 1,580 for the four-week foundations course to HKD 3,080 for the ten-week advanced programme. Fees cover all course materials, live sessions, access to recordings, and — in the portfolio course — individual facilitator feedback on your allocation plan. There are no additional material costs.
Can I take the Advanced course without completing the earlier ones?
The Advanced ETF Considerations course is designed for learners who are already comfortable with how ETFs work and have some experience tracking or holding them. If you have that background through self-directed study or professional exposure, you may enrol directly. We recommend a brief intake conversation to confirm the course is the right fit.
When does the next cohort start, and how do I enrol?
Cohorts run quarterly. To find out when the next intake begins for each course, please use the contact form below or call us directly. We will confirm availability, provide enrolment details, and answer any remaining questions you have before you commit.
